Travel Back in Time: A Horse and Wagon Guided Tour of Harpers Ferry

Harpers Ferry Historical Association and Harpers Ferry NHP announce “Travel Back in Time: A Horse and Wagon Guided Tour of Harpers Ferry.” Sponsored by the Harpers Ferry Historical Association, this brand new attraction will take visitors back in time 150 years to the 19th century lifestyle when the town’s most famous history took place.

The ride will travel along the Shenandoah River to see the confluence of the two rivers and sites of former buildings. Participants will hear stories of the town’s founding, the coming of canal and rail transportation systems, and the industrial revolution. They will learn of the townspeople and how their home became a centerpiece of the struggles for freedom and equality.

Tours will take place on weekends beginning the end of May and will run through mid-August with exceptions on June 14 and 15 and July 19 and 20. Tours will begin at 10 a.m. and will run every thirty minutes until 5:30 p.m. when the final tour of the day will depart. Reservations and payments

are accepted at the Association Bookshop on Shenandoah Street on the day of the ride. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 15 and under. Come see Harpers Ferry’s most famous sites from a new vantage point!For more information please check the website for this program at
