Tree ID walk set for June 7
The Potomac Valley Audubon Society and CraftWorks at Cool Spring will co-sponsor a Summer Tree-Identification Walk on the CraftWorks property on Saturday, June 7.
The walk will start at 9:00 a.m. and last about two hours. It will be led by local arborist Shawn Walker.
Participants will learn how to identify trees in summer, and also explore farmland that is in the process of converting to woods. There will also be a tree-height guessing contest.
The walk will be free and anyone with an interest is welcome to come along. Children will be welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
CraftWorks is located at 1469 Lloyd Road, in southern Jefferson County.
Participants should plan to meet at the CraftWorks parking lot by 8:45 a.m. They should dress for the prevailing weather conditions, and bring drinking water, a snack, sun block, and insect repellent.
Registration is mandatory. To register, go to the Craftworks website at www.wvcraftworks.org and click on “Classes and events.” Full directions to the CraftWorks property are also available there.
