Conflict Resolution Skills for Professionals class offered July 10
The Shepherd University Division of Graduate Studies is offering the workshop Conflict Resolution Skills for Professionals on Thursday, July 10 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Martinsburg Center.
Carolyn Rodis, a mediator for 12 years who has also been trained as a conflict management coach will be facilitating this workshop. She was a founder of the elder section of the Association for Conflict Resolution and chaired its training committee. She was a principal of Rodis & Henick, L.L.C., a mediation and facilitation service, for six years. She is an active trainer in alternative dispute resolution and communication skills for mediators and other professionals and has presented at numerous conferences. Recognize communication roadblocks and learn to avoid them.
Discover effective communication skills.
Understand the principles of conflict resolution.
Learn and practice skills of listening to understand, reflection, reframing, and accepting and working through differences for good results.
Challenge yourself to be non-judgmental.
Redefine cooperation among the team and ascertain steps for collaborative problem solving.
Handle conflict by forestalling it.
Participate in exercises and steps to handle conflict, confrontation, and become an effective communicator.
Learn about resources when you cannot resolve the conflict.
Earn respect from your co-workers thanks to your newly-learned conflict resolution skills.
