Public invited to school dedication

Mark calendars for the dedication, ribbon-cutting, and open house at the newly renovated and enlarged Harpers Ferry Middle School on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomlin will be present for remarks at the ceremony. The program will begin in the auditorium at which time various people will be involved as participants: Susan K. Wall, Superintendent; Mark Osbourn, vice-president of the Jefferson County Board of Education; Eric Vandell, principal of Harpers Ferry Middle School; Samantha Milbourne, 2013-14 student body president; Wayne Welty, president of Harpers Ferry High School Alumni Association; the National Honor Society students; the Harpers Ferry Middle School Band; Garrett Damon, Harpers Ferry Middle representative to the All-State Choir; Mike Hall, representing the School Building Authority; and Ralph Dinges, assistant superintendent of Construction, Maintenance, and Facilities.

After the ceremony, guests will proceed to the front of the building for the ribbon cutting, followed by tours of the building and refreshments in the cafeteria.
