Jala Yoga, the vibrant yoga studio with locations in Shepherdstown, Charles Town and Winchester, Virginia, hosts a workshop on inversions in its Shepherdstown studio, 117 West German Street, on Thursday, Sept. 4. The two-hour workshop, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., will be taught by Sensei Derek Cook from New York City. The cost is $30 ($25 if registered before Aug. 31). Cook, the director of Budokon International in New York, will share his extensive knowledge of the architecture of the body in movement to help students unlock the mysteries of our relationship to gravity. Emphasis will be placed on fully integrating the shoulder girdle and upper body for students to master yoga’s exhilarating upside down poses.
