In a recent story on the Shepherdstown Film Society, it was eportsed that Ray Smock was a “former Capitol Hill intern.” He was not an intern, but rather the first official historian of the U.S. House of Representatives, appointed in 1983 by the Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill after a nationwide search by a bi-partisan House committee. He served in that capacity for 12 years.
