First Friday Coffeehouse will feature Hudson Valley songstress Denise Jordan Finley, Oct. 3, at Trinity Orchard House on Route 45 near Shepherdstown. Doors open for social time and open mic sign-up at 7 p.m. All open mic participants should be there early to get a slot to perform at one of the area’s premier listening rooms. Up to eight performers can show off their talents during the hour preceding the feature act.

Finely’s sound is recognizable by her clear, expressive voice and intricate, unique acoustic guitar style. Her signature writing style showcases lyrics that portray her musings and inspection of the ordinary. They have been said to reflect her studies of contemporary English poetry. These ideas are put to music that covers a full spectrum of moods and grooves.

She has four albums on the Dome Island Records label, and has won numerous awards at the national level for her musical performance and songwriting, including citations from various contests and festivals. Finley is a soulful singer and master of alternative guitar tunings.
