Preparedness Day at Ranson Home Depot

By Staff | Sep 29, 2014

On Saturday, Sept. 27, Jefferson County Homeland Security and Emergency Management (JCHSEM) is participating in National PrepareAthon! day as a part of National Preparedness Month.

As a participant of this campaign, JCHSEM will be partnering with Home Depot, in reaching out and distributing emergency preparedness material to the community. The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Ranson Home Depot, located at 230 Oak Lee Drive, in Ranson.

At this public event, JCHSEM will be answering questions about preparedness and distributing information and emergency preparedness bags throughout the day, while supplies last.

“Disaster can strike quickly and without warning. It can force you to evacuate your neighborhood or confine you to your home. Families can and do cope with disaster by preparing in advance and working together as a team. Knowing what to do is your best protection and your responsibility. You can learn more about Family Disaster Plans and what supplies you should have in your Family Disaster Supply Kit by attending this event or by going to www.ready.gov,” said Barbara Miller, Jefferson County’s emergency manager.

Attending this event is a great way for the community to learn about what supplies are needed in order to be better prepared for an emergency and how to prepare or improve emergency preparedness kit.
