Handmade Market opens this weekend

By Staff | Oct 3, 2014

Autumn is awesome in Shepherdstown. The leaves are changing, the weather is cooling, it’s fall festival season, and the holidays are approaching! Be sure to make a visit to the Shepherdstown Handmade Market a part of the weekend. In our delightful curated marketplace, one will discover a variety of outstanding handmade goods from local independent artists, designers and crafters. The Handmade Market is located at the War Memorial Building, 102 E. German Street and is open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5.

The featured makers for this weekend’s Handmade Market are: Susan Carney Art (fine art paintings, monotype prints, mixed media and cards), Legend Mountain (hand-sewn folk dolls and figures, quilted items), Center Ring design (functional pottery, fine art and art prints), Studio Three 17 (fiber art, art journals, tablet sleeves, clutch bags, art cards), Creations by Tigerlily (aprons, dog coats, crocheted infant car seat blankets, hummingbird feeders, and lots more), Nature’s Inspirations (statement jewelry made with fair-trade components) and Creative Art and Soul (engraved stone and glass pendants, mosaic art, dog leash hangers, necklace or key organizers, and etched glassware). We hope to see you there! For more information, visit the Shepherdstown Community Club Handmade Market Facebook page at facebook.com/SCCHandmadeMarket.

The Handmade Market is sponsored by the Shepherdstown Community Club (SCC), a non-profit community organization of men and women founded in 1945 (formerly known as the Men’s Club). Monies collected from sellers’ space fees go towards the maintenance and operation of the historic War Memorial Building, an important civic and community hub in downtown Shepherdstown, and the 21-acre public access Morgan’s Grove park.
