Seasonal workshops at Jala Yoga

Jala Yoga, the inspiring yoga studio with locations in Shepherdstown, Charles Town and Winchester, Virginia, has announced its November workshops. The studio is offering a full lineup of seasonal workshops from experiencing traditional wellness techniques to deepening your personal yoga practice to pairing it with delicious food in preparation for the holiday season, there are many affordable opportunities for people of all skill levels to explore the world of yoga.

On Saturday, Nov. 1, from 12:30-6 p.m., Jala owner Christa Mastrangelo Joyce leads a Yoga Immersion workshop. She will cover the history of yoga, several core poses, two meditation techniques and breathing practices. Intended to provide participants with a deeper level of confidence in their regular yoga practice, the workshop is perfect for those considering Jala’s teacher training program as well as those who just want to improve their practice. The workshop takes place at the Shepherdstown studio, 117 West German Street. The cost is $65.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, from 2-4 p.m., Katherine Berger teaches an Ayurveda Workshopat the Winchester studio, Creekside Station, 3119 Valley Avenue, Unit 110. This is an introduction to the fundamental principles of Ayurveda, India’s traditional medicine system. Participants will learn ways to feel healthier and more balanced and how we are influenced by food, lifestyle, and seasonal rhythms. The cost is $30.

On Friday, Nov. 7, from 6-8 p.m., yoga instructor Turi Nevin-Turkel and acupuncturist Virginia Hisghman lead a workshop on Health and Harmony with Yoga and Acupuncture. Students will do a yin yoga practice with Turi, focusing on grounding and going deeper into poses, followed by acupuncture with Hisghman, focusing on seasonal balance points. This unique workshop takes place at the Winchester studio. The cost is $65.

On Saturday, Nov. 15, from 6-8 p.m., Jessi Edwards leads the favorite Vino and Vinyasa workshop at the Winchester studio. An all-levels vinyasa flow practice is followed by a wine tasting and chocolate truffles from award-winning Shenandoah Fine Chocolates. Participants must be 21 or over and the deadline for signing up is Nov. 8. The cost is $28.

On Sunday, Nov. 16, from 2-4 p.m., Carol Lenhart leads Takes Two to Yoga: Partner Yoga at the Charles Town Studio, 307 West Washington Street. Lenhart, who was featured in the August issue of Yoga Journal, will lead participants in experiencing yoga with a variety of poses enhanced and supported by a partner. All levels are welcome to attend. The cost is $25 per person or $38 per pair (partner can be a friend, co-worker, spouse or family member).
