Great recipes and great prizes at Taste of Home show

By Staff | Nov 7, 2014

The annual Taste of Home Cooking Show, hosted by The Journal, returned to the Ranson Civic Center on Thursday, Oct. 30. Hundreds of individuals watched as Michelle “Red” Roberts shared several great recipes. Afterward, she drew names for lucky members of the audience to take the dishes home.

Vendors set up with offerings of everything from tasty treats to helpful health information. Several held give-aways for those in attendance at the evening’s festivities.

Sponsors of the event included Orsini’s Appliances Sale and Service at 704 Winchester Avenue in Martinsburg and 805 N. Mildred St. in Ranson and at Parsons Kia at 2525 Valley Ave. in Winchester. In addition, Valley Health/Winchester Medical Center was also a major sponsor as was Martins Grocery.

Counter Top Solutions in Williamsport, Maryland provided the kitchen that was set up for Roberts’ use in the Civic Center.

A Taste of Home show would not be complete without many great give-aways! Once again, Orsini’s Appliances will donated the grand prize, a Maytag washer valued at $629. The lucky winner of the washer was Carolyn Crawford, of Martinsburg. Nearly brought to tears, Crawford shared that she has had to repair her current washer three times and that winning could not come at better time.

Additional prizes included gift certificates from multiple businesses, floral arrangements and bags of groceries, just to name a few.

All attendees received an orange canvas gift bag that includes two Taste of Home Cooking School magazines, coupons and numerous goodies from participating national food companies as well as local businesses.
