First Friday Coffeehouse starts the new year

By Staff | Dec 26, 2014

First Friday Coffeehouse rings in the new year with an inspiring West Virginia trio Jan. 2 at Trinity Orchard House on Route 45. Doors open for social time and open mic sign-up at 7 p.m. All open mic participants should be there early to get a slot to perform at one of the area`s premier listening rooms. Up to eight performers can show off their talents during the hour preceding the feature act.

Doug and Shelley Harper, with Dave Fondale, have performed throughout central Appalachia in a variety of prestigious venues including NPR’s Mountain Stage, Tamarack, Theatre West Virginia’s Music in the Mountains in Grandview National Park and The Clay Center, Charleston, West Virginia.

Doug Harper’s songs offer a tapestry, woven with the golden threads of the New River/Central Appalachian music culture. They are delivered with Shelley’s smooth, silken harmonies, accompanied by uncluttered musicianship. Audiences come away from performances warmed, amused and inspired. The Harpers have numerous CDs to their credit and were hits at a previous First Friday engagement several years ago. They hail from the Beckley area.

Enjoy a great evening of music and fellowship. Snacks and refreshments served. Trinity Orchard House is located at 4599 Shepherdstown Road. A $10 donation per person is requested. For more information, contact Steve Warner at 304-676-4422 or 304-876-2915.
