Skinner tapped for leadership positions

By Staff | Jan 16, 2015

Del. Stephen Skinner will be reappointed to the House Judiciary Committee and will serve as its Minority Vice Chair. Additionally, Skinner will serve as the Minority Chair of the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee and as the Minority Chair of the Insurance Committee. He will also serve on the Health Committee. Minority Leader Tim Miley made the recommendations, which were adopted.

“Stephen is a trusted advisor and has the respect of his colleagues,” Miley said. “He has a proven track record, and the Democratic Caucus is honored to have him working on the most important issues facing West Virginia.”

“I am honored to serve in a leadership capacity,” Skinner said. ” I will never put party politics ahead of fighting for the people of Jefferson County, nor will I shy away from pointing out injustice or cronyism.”

The Judiciary Committee is one of the two most important of the major committees in the West Virginia House of Delegates. The Insurance Committee, which meets with the Bank Committee, oversees the insurance industry and its regulation. The Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee, on which Stephen has served in the last year, just completed a statewide listening tour. Skinner looks forward to many of the issues raised during the tour to be addressed by the Legislature in this session.
