First Friday to feature whimsical songwriter
From Asheville, North Carolina, gifted songwriter Cary Cooper will offer her whimsy and magic at the Feb. 6 First Friday Coffeehouse. The event is held at Trinity Orchard House on Route 45. Doors open for social time and open mic sign-up at 7 p.m. All open mic participants should be there early to get a slot to perform at one of the area`s premier listening rooms. Up to eight performers can show off their talents during the hour preceding the feature act.
Drawing you in with wonderful melodies, stories and sincerity, Cooper will make attendees laugh hystericallywax nostalgicand cry tears of joy all in the course of one song. Of her latest of four CDs, one folk music DJ says her “brilliant new recording (ZuZu’s Petals) features songs that are real, true and fun with delicious and hooky melodieslike a box of chocolates and just as addictive.”
Cooper is a past winner of the Kerrville Folk Festival’s prestigious New Folk Competition as finished finished second and third at the 2012 Rocky Mountain Folk Festival and Telluride Bluegrass Festival competitions, respectively. Visit www.carycooper.com.
