By Staff | Apr 13, 2015

Jala Yoga, with locations in Winchester, Virginia, Shepherdstown and Charles Town, has announced its April workshops. From classes for children to integrating acupuncture with yoga to therapeutic yoga, there are opportunities for people of all ages and levels. Registration for all workshops can be done at www.jalayogaflow.com or by phoning 401-440-0279.

For four consecutive Tuesdays, from April 7 – April 28, Whitney Ingram teaches “Young Yogis” for children ages 3-6. The 45-minute class takes place from 3:30-4:15 p.m. at Jala’s Charles Town location, 307 West Washington Street. Children will be introduced to various yoga postures while making new friends and having fun. The cost is $48 for all 4 classes or $12 per class.

On Friday, April 10, from 6-8 p.m., yoga instructor Turi Nevin-Turkel and acupuncturist Virginia Hisghman team up to lead a “Spring Seasonal Balance and Acupuncture” workshop at Jala’s Winchester studio, Creekside Station, 3119 Valley Avenue, Unit 110. This workshop combines the wisdom and techniques of Traditional Oriental Medicine and Yoga to bring students into a space of health, happiness, balance and peace. In this workshop, a yin yoga practice will cultivate a deeper connection with the body, mind, and soul; and during a long relaxation, students will experience a guided meditation and acupuncture. The cost is $65.

On Sunday, April 19, 2-4 p.m., Kate Deriso leads “Rebuilding Your Body: Restorative Movement Therapy” at the Charles Town studio. Kate is a massage therapist and yoga instructor who works with clients who suffer from chronic pain and sports injuries. In this workshop, she will introduce a system of integrated therapeutic corrective movements, exercises and stretches that will increase strength and mobility, correct dysfunctional movement patters and give knowledge on how to decrease pain and discomfort, perfect for anyone who has experienced pain, discomfort, and injury and wants to take greater control over their well-being. The cost is $30 through April 14th, and $35 after.

Also beginning on Saturday, April 4, and extending through September, is “Rhythm & Rajas” with Whitney Ingram. This class meets once a month for a deeper journey of self-exploration through yoga, breathwork, meditation, and tips for seasonal wellness. The class takes place from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Jala’s Winchester studio. The other dates are Saturdays, May 2, June 13, July 4, Aug. 1 and Sept. 5. The cost is $17 a session or $85 for all six classes.

In addition to its special workshops, Jala Yoga offers classes for all levels, seven days a week, at its three locations in Shepherdstown, Charles Town, and Winchester. To register or for more information about Jala Yoga, please visit www.jalayogaflow.com or call 401-440-0279.
