Spring Ayurvedic Workshop featuring yoga and herbal medicine
On Sunday, April 12, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Harmony Healing Arts Center, yoga instructor Gena Rockwell and herbalist Ashley Davis will offer a special workshop that blends Ayurvedic philosophy, yoga and herbal medicine, promoting balance of mind, body and spirit as the transition of spring unfolds. For more than 5,000 years, ayurveda, yoga and herbal medicine practices have been used together to bring about profound healing. Learn about their practical uses today, in this seasonally topical workshop.
The leaders will address the dietary and lifestyle changes one can make as we transition from winter to spring, helping to avoid imbalances like allergies, low energy, sluggish digestion and stiff joints. Then, Rockwell will guide students in an hour-long yoga practice, suitable for all levels, which will include postures and breathing techniques aimed at stimulating digestion, releasing joint tension and boosting energy.
Davis will follow with insights into herbal medicine from an Ayurvedic perspective. Samples of herbal edibles will be offered that stimulate digestion, circulation and boost mental clarity.
Pre-registration for the workshop is required. Participants are asked to wear comfortable clothes for ease in movement. Workshop cost is $30 if registered before April 7, $35 if registered after April 7. To register, contact Gena at 304-583-4830 or wvmarigold@aol.com.
