Generous donation given to League

By Staff | Apr 20, 2015

As a former County Commissioner, Lyn Widmyer qualified for a monthly retirement benefit from the State of West Virginia. She has donated her first retirement check to The League of Women Voters of Jefferson County.

In her words; “I attribute my interest and involvement in local issues to the League of Women Voters of Jefferson County. For over 30 years I have joined fellow League members in educating residents, and myself, about topics of interest and encouraging people to learn about candidates and to vote. Donating this retirement check is a token of my appreciation for all the League does.”

The League of Women Voters has been an active champion of access to and openness in government throughout its history. In pursuit of this goal locally, the League of Women Voters of Jefferson County has sponsored forums to study aspects of local government and has established an Observer Program to monitor the actions of Jefferson County government.

Our League appreciates that as a county commissioner Lyn has been particularly interested in effective and open government. In view of this, Jefferson County’s League of Women Voters wishes to express its gratitude publicly and invites others who value the organizations work to make a contribution or join.
