Rucker announces Senate bid

By Staff | May 1, 2015

Harpers Ferry resident, Patricia Rucker, has announced her candidacy for the West Virginia State Senate from the 16th District which includes all of Jefferson and parts of Berkeley Counties.

Speaking among her supporters she said, “We need to find a balance between the role of government and individual freedom so that we can be the best that we can be and have the best possible life here in the Eastern Panhandle.”

Rucker is a former teacher and mother of five and has been married to her husband Jim for 18 years. Her experience running for the House of Delegates has inspired her to run again this time for the State Senate. Said Rucker, “We surprised a lot of people by how close we came to winning. In the last election many new faces emerged victorious in the House of Delegates races. It is time for a new face in the state senate as well.”

She added, “For too long special interests have dominated politics in the state capitol. For too long the priorities of ordinary citizens, the taxpayers of Jefferson County, have been taken for granted. We need quality roads and infrastructure; we need quality schools; we need to clean up our state budget. We deserve a more responsive and accountable government that burdens us less with regulations and taxes that inhibit economic growth”.
