Cafe Society discussions continuing through summer
The Cafe Society Discussion of current issues that are conducted as part of Shepherd University’s (SU) Life Long Learning Program will continue through the summer break. Participants in the program (now in its second year at SU) decided that they enjoyed the weekly gatherings enough to continue informally on their own. The sessions are held each Tuesday morning from 08:30 until 10 a.m. in the Rumsey Room at the Shepherd Student Center on campus.
Mike Austin, who along with Art Wineburg, serves as a facilitator for the session commented, “This is the easiest job I have ever had working with a group of well informed community members. For example, next Tuesday we will hold our third session on discussion of Zoonotic Diseases, Human Health and Related Crisis Management. Dr. James Bowen has shared his professional knowledge and insight along with the added opportunity to compare British and American policies and programs.”
Austin added that the group is particularly interested in drawing upon wider knowledge and skills in the Shepherdstown community as they identify future topics to be covered when Shepherd’s fall semester begins.
