Animal Welfare Society “Bark in the Park” set for Saturday
The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County will host its ninth annual Bark in the Park Raising Dollars for Dogs Pledge Walk fundraising event at Jefferson Memorial Park in Charles Town. The event will be held on Saturday, June 6 (rain date June 7) from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with registration at 9:30 a.m. Attendees and their best doggy pal or pals can participate in a day of fun. There will be a Blessing of the Animals; an Interactive Obstacle Course Pledge Walk with 8 challenges, canine demonstrations; dog and owner games; canine contests; vendors that include dog rescues, crafts, products; and delicious food provided by Big Daddy’s BBQ. This year there will also be a microchip clinic at the low cost of $20 per pet.
This year’s Bark in the Park is sponsored: J and K Precision Auto Care, Ranson, JLB Business Solutions, Ranson, Hillside Veterinary Hospital, Charles Town, Black Dog Coffee, Bardane, VIP Boarding Kennel, Lovettsville, Virginia and Cornerstone Lawn Services, Charles Town.
For a doggone good time, all should plan to spend the day and quality time with their best friend to benefit the homeless pets at the Animal Welfare Society shelter. Registration is a $10 donation per dog for the event and each canine friend receives a doggy bandana. Collect pledges from friends and family to participate in the Interactive Obstacle Course. Challenge organizations or businesses to raise the most pledges. Pledges over $500 will receive an 8 x 12 honorary brick with their name on it to be placed at the shelter memorial patio.
This major fundraiser for the Animal Welfare Society depends on the contributions from these pledges to help sustain the Society’s animal shelter on Leetown Pike and other programs.
