Shepherdstown Rotarians donate $250 to American Conservation Film Festival
The Rotary Club of Shepherdstown has donated $250 to the American Conservation Film Festival.
Based in Shepherdstown, the Festival is dedicated to promoting films that inspire people to become engaged in natural resources conservation. This year’s festival dates are Oct. 23-25 and Nov. 1.
The donation was presented to Festival President Jeff Feldman at the Club’s June 30 breakfast meeting at Shepherdstown’s Bavarian Inn.
David Manthos, a member of the Club’s International Service Committee, said it was being made in Feldman’s honor, in recognition of his “service above self in the field of conservation.”
Feldman, an environmental sustainability consultant, served as moderator for this year’s Rotary World Affairs Seminar.
The Seminar, which has been a collaborative project of the Shepherdstown and Martinsburg Rotary clubs for more than 50 years, is aimed at engaging area high school students in international issues.
This year’s seminar, which was held in March at the National Conservation Training Center, focused on global energy issues. Over 50 students from four schools attended.
