Shepherd Lifelong Learning Program offers tours to several countries
Shepherd University’s Lifelong Learning Program is taking applications for four international and one U.S. trip planned for the 2015-2016 school year and beyond.
Openings are still available for the first trip, to Costa Rica, which is scheduled for November 17-22, 2015. Participants will go to Pura Vida Retreat and Spa in Alajuela, Costa Rica, for a yoga retreat. The cost is $1,850 per person for double occupancy and $2,250 per person based on single occupancy. The package includes five nights lodging, three meals per day, two yoga classes per day, a guided holistic garden tour, and a guided tour in the surrounding hills of a coffee plantation. Additional half-day tours are available at published rates.
Lifelong Learning is also taking reservations immediately for a trip to Argentina. “Malbec and More: A Wine and Food Journey to Mendoza, Argentina,” will take visitors to the wine-growing region of Argentina Feb. 2-11, 2016. The trip is open to 12 travelers at a cost of $3,950 per person, double occupancy, including hotel and airfare. There will be a $700 single supplement fee.
A people-to-people trip to Cuba is on the itinerary March 2-9, 2016. Participants will spend eight days seeing Havana, Varadero, and Mantanzas. Highlights of “Discover Cuba” will include taking a salsa dance lesson, seeing the Habana Compas Dance Group perform, visiting a cigar factory, meeting a tobacco farmer, and seeing Ernest Hemingway’s farm. Cost for the trip is $4,295 per person, double occupancy, with a $600 single supplement. Anyone who books by Oct. 31, 2015, will receive a $100 per person discount.
A trip to the Canadian Rockies July 20-27, 2016, will include a two-day rail excursion. Participants will fly to British Columbia, where they will tour the capital city, Victoria, and Vancouver. The train trip will take them along the North Thompson River and will include views of Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The trip includes a tour of Jasper, Alberta, Jasper National Park, Maligne Canyon, and Maligne Lake, the largest natural lake in the Rockies. Cost for the trip is $4,195 per person, double occupancy, with a $950 single supplement. Those making a reservation by May 31, 2016 will receive a $100 per person booking discount.
A trip to the Grand Canyon in Arizona is planned for September 18-24, 2016. The trip will include visits to Sedona, the historic copper mining town of Jerome, Montezuma Castle National Monument, and Old Town Scottsdale. Cost for the trip is $2,295 per person, double occupancy, with a $625 single supplement. Anyone booking by May 31, 2016 will receive a $100 per person discount.
