Speak: Stories of World War II and the magic of Hawaii
Storyteller Alton Takiyama-Chung, Japanese and Korean, grew up with the stories, superstitions and the magic of the Hawaiian Islands. This gives him a unique perspective to tell cultural tales and personal stories of WWII Japanese-Americans, Asian folktales and ancient Hawaiian legends He was awarded National Storytelling Network’s (NSN) first J.J. Reneaux Emerging Artist Award in 2005.
Speak will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Club War Memorial Building. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Advance tickets can be purchased at Four Seasons Books, reserved at www.speakwv.org or reserved by phoning 304-886-9481
