League heads up Voter Registration Day

On Sept. 22, Jefferson County League of Women Voters participated in National Voter Registration Day by registering voters in Shepherdstown and at the Shenandoah Community Health Center. League members also honored a request by the IRS office in Kearneysville to register voters at a location in their Credit Union.
Carolyn Rodis organized the event. Members participating were Debbie Royalty, league president, Eleanor Finn, Effie Kallas, Cris Kinsella and Renny Smith. Tina Burns headed a registration drive at Shenandoah Community Health Center. Her team; Joan Ergin, Rie Wilson, and Becky Phipps along with Shenandoah Community Health staff registered thirty-nine new voters.
The League continues to monitor local government and looks forward to voter education forums about the State and Local Budget, and the Board of Education Levy.
The League of Women Voters works to encourage informed and active participation in the democratic process through voter registration, education and the promotion of fair, active and open government.
