Pack Horse Ford’s annual River Walk will be held Sunday, Oct. 4 at noon. Those wishing to participate should meet under the clock tower at McMurran Hall. The group will proceed down River Road to Pack Horse Ford where they will ford the Potomac River on foot, walking across the C&O Canal towpath to the Ferry landing. They will cross back over in a flotilla of “interesting watercraft” and will gather for a picnic at the river landing.

Those interested in participating are asked to bring river shoes or an extra pair of dry shoes, a walking stick and a towel. Small backpacks are encouraged. The walking staff is essential. For those wishing to skip the first part of the walk, meet at Pack Horse Ford at 1 p.m. Plenty of parking will be available. Those wishing to skip the walk all together but join in the picnic may gather at the N. Princess Street boat landing at 3 p.m. for a picnic. Town Run Brewing will provide hot dogs and and hamburgers. Side dishes are encouraged.

Please note that this event is not geared toward children. Participants under 5 feet tall are discouraged from participating.
