Charles Town ‘Tree Walk’ set

By Staff | Oct 9, 2015

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society and the Charles Town Farmers Market are co-sponsoring a fall Tree Walk along the streets of Charles Town on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The walk will be led by local arborist Shawn Walker. Participants will meet at 10 a.m. in front of the Charles Town Library.

The walk will last about one-and-a-half hours. It will offer a close-up look at the diverse tree population that surrounds the market on Samuel Street.

The walk will focus in part on identifying evergreens, and in part on identifying deciduous trees through their fall characteristics, bark, twigs, and other distinctive features. There will be a tree-height guessing challenge at the end.

The event will be free and open to the public. Pre registration is recommended but not required. Register on the PVAS website at www.potomacaudubon.org.
