Join Pre-Halloween ‘Owl Prowl’ on Oct. 30
The Potomac Valley Audubon Society and Craftworks at Cool Spring will jointly sponsor an evening “owl prowl” walk at Craftworks outside Charles Town on Friday, Oct. 30. Enjoy the brisk fall weather while looking for owls, bats and other creatures of the night with expert birder and Master Naturalist Joette Borzik. After the walk, participants can enjoy a light snack around the warmth of a campfire.
The walk will begin at 6 p.m. and last about three hours. It will be free and open to anyone with an interest. Children will be welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required for this event and can be completed on the Craftworks website at craftworksatcoolspring.org.
The walk will begin at the Craftworks parking lot located at 1469 Lloyd Road south of Charles Town. It will involve 1 to 2 miles of walking on uneven and rolling terrain using flashlights.
The walk will be conducted even if it is raining. Participants should wear sturdy shoes; dress appropriately for the prevailing weather; bring drinking water, insect repellent, one flashlight per person, and binoculars if they have them. A few pairs of binoculars will be available for those who don’t have their own.
