Autumn hike at Antietam Battlefield
Take a 90-minute hike at Antietam National Battlefield Park with Trail and Town Alliance of Harpers Ferry and Bolivar. Though the focus will be on the outdoor experience, this hike will cover several major sites from America’s bloodiest day. The hike covers moderately rolling hills and is rated easy for those in moderate condition. Bring water and wear suitable footware.
Meet at 2 p.m. at the Fillmore Street parking lot just behind the old school building, one block off Washington Street and across Storer College Place from the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in the upper town of Harpers Ferry. Carpools will travel to the battlefield and back. Drivers are needed, but non-drivers are welcome. Interested hikers may also meet the group at the Antietam National Battlefield visitors center parking at 2:45 p.m. There is no charge for this hike, but regular Park admission will apply.
