Trinity Episcopal Church sponsors fall meditation workshops

By Staff | Nov 6, 2015

A series of three workshops will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on German Street in Shepherdstown this November. Each workshop will last approximately an hour and a half and be held at 10 a.m. on a Saturday morning in Trinity House located next to the church on German Street.

Each session will explore a different type of meditation with a short introduction and a meditation practice.

The idea for the workshops grew out of a retreat held this past spring where discussion centered on our stressed out lives and the need for some alternative ways to help reduce stress. Meditation is a method that allows individuals to find a restful space that can be practiced easily in a group or individually. The workshops will explore three forms of meditation: Yogic, Buddhist and silent meditation.

The workshops are:

Nov. 7, at 10 a.m.: Yogic Meditation led by Judy Jenner from Harmony Yoga. Judy has been teaching traditional Yoga in Shepherdstown for many years.

Nov. 14, at 10. a.m: Buddhist Meditation led by Mike Cambel. Mike is a Buddhist meditator from Frederick, Maryland. He will be working with the four “tions” namely education, contemplation, meditation and realization.

Nov. 21, at 10.am.: Silent Meditation led by Lindsay McLaughlin from Rolling Ridge Retreat Center, an ecumenical center located in on the Blue Ridge in Jefferson County.

The workshops are part of Trinity Church’s outreach to the community. All are welcome to attend. A free will offering will be taken to help defray the costs.
