All events are free except for those where prices are stated or there is an asterisk (*), which is used where an entry fee/ticket is required
Note: This Christmas season, Brown’s Tire, Towing and Auto Care Center is hosting a “Toys for Tots” Drop Off at its garage at 7735 Martinsburg Pike. Customers earn “Brown Bucks” for each toy donated. All donations are due by Dec 11.
First Weekend
Friday, Nov. 27
10 a.m.-3 p.m. Old Tyme Photos and Craft Bazaar at the Black Box Arts Center, Princess Street.
4-8 p.m. Chili & Cornbread Supper. Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club. Community Club Building. (Adults $6; Children 6-12 $4; Children under 6 free. Proceeds benefit Kiwanis.)

5:30 p.m. Grinch arrives with Mrs. Santa and the Whoville residents. King and German Streets.
6 p.m. Mrs. Santa reads “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” McMurran Hall lawn.
6:15 p.m. Lighting of Town Tree. McMurran Hall lawn.
6:30 p.m. Santa arrives. Santa and his elves entertain children inside McMurran Hall. Parents, bring your camera.

Thursday, Dec. 3
6:15 p.m. Civil War Christmas in Shepherdstown programming starts this evening with a concert and lecture at the Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church. The concert, which will last until 7 p.m., will feature the Village Brass Quintet playing 19th Century music of the Civil War and of the season. This will be followed by a 7 p.m. lecture, “To Remind Me of Old Times: Reflections on Christmas in the Shenandoah during the Civil War,” by Jonathan Noyalas, Assistant Professor of History and Director of the Center for Civil War History at Lord Fairfax Community College.
6:30 p.m. The Not so Nutcracker Ballet by the Fragrant Offering Dance Company at Covenant Church. 7485 Shepherdstown Pike. ($10-$1.)
Friday, Dec. 4
4:30-5:30 p.m. Civil War Christmas event: Demonstration. Completion of Union Winter Encampment and Firing Demonstration. Speak to soldiers, watch them set up their camp, drill, fire their weapons, and prepare to make their evening meal. George Tyler Moore Center.
6 p.m. Civil War Christmas event: Lecture, “‘A pang of bitter remembrances in every breast’: The Soldiers’ Civil War Christmas” by Dr. James J. Broomall, Director, George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War and Assistant Professor of History, Shepherd University. St Peter’s Lutheran Church.
6-10:30 p.m. Christmas Classics double feature. “White Christmas” and “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Shepherdstown Opera House.

All day. Civil War Christmas event: The streets of Shepherdstown will be filled with living history Civil War re-enactors. Be interviewed by an eager reporter, meet townspeople, talk to troops and refugees, see if you can make a good deal with a black marketeer, and be prepared to be surprised!
