Master gardeners offer seed-starting workshop

HAGERSTOWN The Washington County Master Gardeners will offer a seed-starting workshop on Saturday, Feb. 13, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Washington County Agricultural Education Center at 7303 Sharpsburg Pike in Boonsboro.

This hands-on workshop will teach participants how to save money and increase the variety of plants for their gardens by starting seeds indoors.

Participants will learn proper techniques for starting seeds and caring for plants as they grow. They will also discuss proper lighting and timing seed-starting to produce the best transplants for the garden.

Pre-registration is required. To register, visit the Extension office or send a check for $10 payable to “Washington County EAC” to Master Gardener Workshop, University of MD Extension, 7303 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713. Class size is limited.

Volunteer educators with the University of Maryland Extension, Master Gardeners teach people safe, effective gardening practices that build healthy gardens and communities. They give educational talks, create demonstration gardens, offer plant clinics and therapeutic horticulture programs and host information booths at community events.
