Grassland Birds Initiative

By Staff | Feb 5, 2016

On Feb. 11, Mr. Will Harshberger of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society will present a program about the Grassland Birds Initiative, also known as ” Why don’t we hear Bobwhites anymore?”

Many native birds, along with other species are in trouble. Some grass nesting bird numbers have dropped 80 percent over the past 50 years. Remember, birds are necessary to control insect pests. Future generations need to experience the beauty and song of meadowlarks and quail, as have those in the past. Come and hear some interesting facts, and learn about solutions.

The event will be held at The White Church, 112 East Street, Middleway at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11. Light refreshments provided.
