Fire companies feed the masses to make some dough
Shepherdstown Fire Department held their annual Super Bowl buffet dinner on Sunday afternoon where visitors to the department received fried chicken, roast beef and all the trimmings. Included were homemade rolls and desserts.
Department treasurer Denny Barron reported that the event saw approximately 250 people come through the doors for the lunchtime meal and netted the department more than $1,500.
Across town on Shrove Tuesday, Citizen’s Fire Department held their annual Pancake Day where they served pancakes, sausage, gravy and eggs (at least to the morning attendees) all day. President Ron Fletcher shared that the event drew in more than 1,750 diners and gave the department a profit of approximately $10,000. The event is the department’s largest fundraiser each year.
