United Way Board seeking member nominations

The Board of the United Way of the Eastern Panhandle (UWEP) is seeking nominations for Board Membership among Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan County residents and area business leaders.

Membership selection is made proportional to the population of the three counties. Board nominations may be forwarded to the attention of the United Way Governance Committee by Friday, May 13.

The UWEP seeks to:

* Mobilize businesses, individuals, organizations and governments to effectively meet the human service needs in the region.

* Serve as the region’s central fundraising organization which provides Grants and funds distribution in support of the mission of over 40 regional nonprofit agencies.

* Provide, promote and support Community and Partner Agency collaborations that enhance the vitality and conditions of our citizens.

Board Membership involves:

* An initial 3-year term commitment (beginning July 1, 2016) which may be extended to a second 3-year term.

Attendance at 1-3 Board or Committee meetings per month depending on interest and assignment by the Executive Committee.

Personal and Professional involvement in and support of one or more UWEP Initiatives to include the Annual Campaign, Community Impact (Grant) Program, Annual Day of Caring, Planned Giving Program, Promise Neighborhood Initiative, Jefferson Teen Court, Relationship Development Program, Vegas Revue and other special events or initiatives.
