Annual FOSL Book Sale on Memorial Day weekend

By Staff | May 13, 2016

FOSL’S annual Book Sale Fundraiser will be held over Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29 at the Shepherdstown Community Club’s War Memorial Building.

The annual sale is a big fundraiser and a key reason FOSL could donate over $15,000 last year to the Shepherdstown Library.

Those wishing to assist with making the book sale a success may do so on several fronts. Gathering and donating books to the book sale is key. Donors may drop off books at the library beforehand. Books will also be accepted at the War Memorial Building for three days prior to the sale (during the hours 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. on May 25-27. If a book donation is so large that one needs a FOSL member to pick up books, call Stan Mopsik at 304-870-7227. The group will not accept Readers Digest Condensed Books, textbooks and National Geographic magazines, but will accept DVDs, CD’s and video games.

Those wishing to volunteer time to help set-up and run the sale are essential. Organizing the books will take place May 25-27, from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. One may volunteer for an hour or all day. Those wishing to help should call Wendy Mopsik at 304-870-7227.

A pre-sale wine and cheese reception will be held on Friday evening May 27 (cost is $10). This reception is for book dealers and anyone else who wants first choice of all the books.

Hours on Saturday May 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sunday May 29, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Special reduced prices on all remaining books will be in effect after 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Note that for the first time buyers will be able to purchase books with a credit card this year.
