Native plant sale part of weekend events

By Staff | May 23, 2016

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor a Native Plant sale in Shepherdstown on Saturday, May 21. Part of this year’s Shepherdstown GardenFest, the sale will be held on North King Street, behind the library. It will emphasize plants that benefit endangered pollinators like honeybees and butterflies and it will include informational displays as well as vendors.

Participating native plant vendors will include Sunshine Farm and Gardens, from Renick, West Virginia; Hill House Farm and Nursery, from Castletown, Virginia; Enchanter’s Garden, from Hinton, West Virginia; Bluebell Ridge Nursery, from Sharpsburg, Maryland; and Star Eagle Gardens, from Berkeley Springs.

PVAS itself will be selling Butterfly Weed supplied by Sunny Meadows Nursery of Boonsboro, Maryland. There will also be garden art for sale by Shary’s Garden Art, of Berkeley Springs and Kearneysville’s Eversweet Apiaries will be selling honey and offering tastings of different honeys.
