Shepherdstown Street Fest 2016: Come celebrate Shepherdstown

By Staff | May 23, 2016

Shepherdstown Street Fest is one of the regions finest festivals that highlights local artisans and musicians alike, and offers activities and entertainment to a crowd of all ages.

Street Fest is brought to the community by a core group of dedicated volunteers that work year round to seamlessly produce an amazing event that gathers approximately 8,000 supporters for only one day of the year, free of charge.

The festival is held 10 a.m.8:30 p.m. on the two blocks of German Street on either side of the town’s main intersection at King Street and behind the library on King Street. More than 8,000 people have been in attendance in previous years, with similar numbers expected this year.

German Street will be lined with vendors selling handmade and local crafts and wares, and many German Street shops and eateries will have booths outside, creating an indoor-outdoor experience for visitors to patronize local businesses as well as the many vendors who set up camp for the festival.

Music begins at noon with Chamomile & Whiskey and continues throughout the day on two stages-the main stage on German Street and the intimate library stage in the beer garden on King Street. The musical acts include The Speakeasy Boys, Reckless Island, Ginada Piata, The Plate Scrapers, Ethereal Jive, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, A Faster Buffalo and, at 7:10 p.m., The Christian Lopez Band.

For details on all the day’s activities, a listing of vendors, information on Kids Camp, a map of the festival venue and parking, visit www.shepherdstownstreetfest.org. One can also follow links to each band’s website to get an advance listen to their tunes.

Street Fest is a free event, organized by volunteers, with this year’s proceeds to benefit the Shepherdstown Day Care Center and (CASA-EP) Court Appointed Advocates of the Eastern Panhandle. This with suggestions or concerns, please email event organizers at info@shepherd stownstreetfest.org.
