Registration open for June 20-24 music camps at Shepherd with a June 13 final deadline

Shepherd University’s Department of Music is offering two music camps for middle and high school students June 20-24, String Orchestra Camp and Summer Jazz Camp.

String Orchestra Camp is open to students who are at an intermediate level and above and/or are in grades 8-12. It will include individual and group coaching, chamber music and string quartets, master classes, faculty performances, rehearsals and a final concert Friday at 5 p.m. Camp will run Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and will cost $250, including lunch.

Junior and senior jazz camps are open to students entering grades 6-12, college students, and jazz enthusiasts. The week will include individual and group coaching, combo/improvisation classes, theory classes, master classes, faculty performances and a concert.

Senior Jazz Camp is open to students in grades 9-12. It will run Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and will include a concert Friday at 2 p.m. Cost is $250, including lunch. Junior Jazz Camp is open to students in grades 6-8. It will run Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and will include a concert on Friday at 1 p.m. Cost is $125 and students are required to bring a bagged lunch.

Space is limited for both camps. Students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline for registering is Monday, June 13.
