Summer Solstice celebration market slated this weekend

By Staff | Jun 20, 2016

The Summer Solstice Celebration Market began in 2014 when a group of creatives came together to rejoice long sunny days, take joy in our community, savor wellness and spirit, and relish in creativity. The Solstice Market is a spirited, psychic, holistic wellness, spiritual development event and handmade market all in one. The event is sponsored by the Shepherdstown Community Club and will be open this weekend, Saturday, (10 a.m.-7 p.m.) and Sunday, (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) at the War Memorial Bldg., 102 E. German St., in downtown Shepherdstown.

Source Transformative Healing Energy will be there to provide mini sessions of relaxing polarity energy touch therapy. Visitors can also experience a psychic reading from local Donna Joy of Intuitive Services who is a psychic medium and also performs Reiki energy work. The Dancing Herbalist will be providing nutritional and herbal consulations and she will also have her own herbal tinctures, salves, creams, and wellness workbooks for sale. Even Rose Love will have a wonderful selection of exquisite hand-forged and tooled metal and stone jewelry in which many of her designs are inspired by nature. Kem Gardens has been working on a new design of solstice sun-themed wire art, suncatchers and windchimes that will be liven up any garden space, patio, or window. Kem Gardens will also have stunning natural dried flower art in frames and as bookmarks. Nature’s Inspirations will have her colorful collection of gemstone and beaded jewelry all with a fair trade focus and Creative Art and Soul will be offering a new line of bohemian-style electroformed copper and crystal pendants and etched metal jewelry.

The Solstice Celebration Market is part of the Handmade Market series sponsored by the Shepherdstown Community Club. Monies collected from sellers’ space fees go towards the maintenance and operation of the historic War Memorial Building and Morgans Grove park.
