With the 2016 Street Fest to be held on June 25, preparations are underway to get all of the activities ready in time for the festival. Vendors, artisans and musicians will set up shop along German and Princess streets for a fun-filled day in the sun.

The festival can only happen thanks to the hard work volunteers and sponsors. Title sponsor for the 2016 Street Fest is Morgan Academy, a private school that will be moving to a new 14-acre campus just outside of Shepherdstown.

Founded in 2004, Morgan Academy has a student population of 43 students ranging from kindergarten to eighth grade.

The academy will also be starting a pre-k program in the fall.

“We are different by keeping enrollment low. There are usually 12 or fewer students per class,” says Bernadine Somers, the founder and director of Morgan Academy.

“We also function as a one-room schoolhouse.”

In addition to being the title sponsor of the 2016 Street Fest, Morgan Academy will also be hosting a kids’ camp during the festival.

Activities will include arts and crafts, face painting and other kid-friendly activities.
