Gardener’s Exchange Group to meet July 16

By Staff | Jul 8, 2016

GEG will tour Tangy Products, an aquaponics greenhouse, on July 16.

Aquaponics is the marriage of hydroponics (growing in water) and aquaculture (raising fish) that lets the grower create a complete cycle by raising tilapia in the tanks where plants grow. Read more about Brian Tanguay: Aqua man: Growing Shepherdstown farm has roots in water.

Those who wish may purchase eggs (free-range chickens) or vegetables (grown on site) from Tanguay after the meeting.

There is parking at the farm, but bring a chair, plants or gardening materials to share, and food to share for breakfast. The group provides coffee. Children are welcome.

GEG members share information, resources, expertise, labor, plants and experiences trough monthly meetings, garden visits, website and special events. The group meets at 9 a.m. usually the third Saturday of the month. New members are welcome.
