Kiwanis International Convention held

Karl Wolf, Dr. Bernard Wayne Knott and Adele Knott of the Kiwanis Club of Shepherdstown, attended the 101st Kiwanis International Convention in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, June 22-25.

There were delegates present from the 83 countries in which there are Kiwanis clubs as well as delegates from Circle K International, the college/university branch of the Kiwanis family in attendance. There were educational workshops, speakers, the Kiwanis World Showcase, the election of international officers, conducting of organizational business and plenty of time to fellowship with Kiwanians from around the globe as well as explore the beautiful city of Toronto, the largest in Canada, with its multi-cultural citizens and its many outstanding restaurants.

One of the outstanding keynote speakers was Col. Chris Hadfield, the first Canadian commander of the International Space Station. He was presented with the Humanitarian Award, which is given by the Kiwanis International president to honor high-profile people making a difference in their community.
