“Music for the mountain state” summer camp to benefit flood victims

Covenant Church will hold a Summer Music Camp Aug. 2-4 from 10-11 a.m. each day. All proceeds from the camp will be donated to help victims of the June 23 flooding in West Virginia.

The theme for morning classes is “Discover West Virginia,” and will highlight state symbols. Activities that engage all the senses will be utilized to teach the students, Additionally, there will be an “Instrument Exploration” on Thursday night, Aug. 4 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Local area musicians will be on site to demonstrate symphonic as well as Appalachian and bluegrass instruments, and allow attendees to explore. The evening event is open for all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult).

The cost for the camp is $20 per student, with a maximum of $40 per family. Admission to “Instrument Exploration Night” is free, but donations will be accepted, to help aid flood victims (suggested donation is $5 per person, or $10 per family).
