Shepherd named to Colleges of Distinction list
Shepherd University is the only public college in West Virginia to be named to the 2016-2017 Colleges of Distinction list. Shepherd joins 61 other public colleges and universities on the list, which recognizes schools for student engagement, great teaching, having a vibrant community and successful outcomes.
On its website, Colleges of Distinction says, “Shepherd University takes students on an extraordinary academic journey to master the knowledge and skills necessary for personal and professional success. The Shepherd path begins with a liberal arts education, advances to a nationally recognized degree and leads to outstanding career preparation.”
Colleges of Distinction cites Shepherd for offering students individual relationships with professors, placing an emphasis on leadership and service learning, and offering opportunities to explore the local community and region.
Colleges of Distinction began 15 years ago with the goal of providing students and parents with a resource for finding the right college. The 2016-2017 Colleges of Distinction guidebook will be published in both digital and print form in September. The book will be available on Amazon.com and free digital copies will be provided to high school counselors to distribute to students and parents.
