The Shepherdstown Community Club’s annual Labor Day picnic from 2 to 5 p.m. at Morgan’s Grove Park, featuring what has become a Labor Day tradition for the SCC picnic: The Rohrersville Cornet Band. Founded in 1837, the Rohrersville Cornet Band (www.rohrersvilleband.com) claims to be the oldest continuous brass band in the state of Maryland. Those who have heard them at the SCC’s previous Labor Day picnics know what joy they bring to the day, and if you have not heard them before it is an event not to be missed. Organizers look forward to welcoming all to the picnic. Hot dogs, hamburgers and beverages sold by the SCC. Please bring a dish to share, especially desserts and salads.
