Shooting victim identified by sheriff’s department
MARTINSBURG – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s department has identified a man found shot to death on Shepherdstown Road on Friday.
Officials say Ahmid Malik Hafley, 23, of Martinsburg, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and the body was sent for an autopsy on Saturday.
Hafley was found at 9:54 a.m. Friday near a storage rental unit site off Shepherdstown Road. Investigators with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after reports were given of a gunshot victim in the area. The sheriff’s office conducted interviews with the persons who found the body.
Hafley was previously charged in June with DUI causing death for allegedly driving under the influence of marijuana and allegedly causing an accident involving 15 vehicles on Interstate 81.
One death resulted from the accident.
Hafley’s body was recovered from the 3100 block of Shepherdstown Road in Martinsburg.
