Audubon sponsoring field trip and talk

By Staff | Oct 28, 2016

The Potomac Valley Audubon Society will sponsor a late-afternoon field trip to the Bolivar Heights section of the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park on Nov. 4 to watch resident vultures return to their roosts for the night. This will be followed by a 7 p.m. talk about vultures at the Bolivar Community Center. Both events will be free and everyone is invited to attend.

The field trip will begin at 4:30 p.m. and last about an hour. It will be led by local birding expert Deb Hale. Participants should plan to meet her at the Bolivar Heights parking area. The speaker for the evening talk will be Katie Fallon, a West Virginia birder and writer who lives in Morgantown.

She will discuss the natural history and biology of vultures, and their role in the ecosystems in which they live.
