Community Thanksgiving service
The Community Thanksgiving Service, Sunday, Nov. 20 at 4:30 p.m. at the Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church (100 W. Washington St.) will feature music by the Shepherdstown Elementary School (SES) chorus and the Shepherdstown Middle School band ensemble.
The mayor, police chief, fire chief, Shepherd University vice-president, SES principal, plus representatives of the Day Care Center, Good Shepherd Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, Caring Cupboard and JCCM (Jefferson County Community Ministries) will each offer a brief word of gratitude to the community for its support. In turn, the community will have a chance to applaud the work of our first responders, public servants and school teachers.
The offering will benefit JCCM and Caring Cupboard which provides weekend nutritional take home bags for school children. Please bring cash or checks (payable to SMA) for Caring Cupboard.
And for JCCM please bring any of the following: soup, pancake mix and syrup, instant potatoes, low-sugar cereals, canned fish and meat (tuna, chicken, salmon), small bags or boxes of rice, canned fruit, canned stew or chili, spaghetti sauce, canned vegetables (other than corn or green beans) and condiments (ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise). Check expiration dates. Food that is out of date cannot be accepted or distributed by JCCM.
This community event is sponsored by the Shepherdstown Ministerial Association (SMA). All are welcome.
