Capstone art exhibit to be presented at Town Run Brewery
The Town Run Brewery in Shepherdstown West Virginia will be presenting the work of Andrea Siles and Steven Welti from April 15th to April 16th with an opening reception April 15th 4:00pm-8:00pm located at 202 E Washington St, Shepherdstown, WV 25443. This painting and photography exhibit creates an environment where viewers will be confronted with endangered shark species as symbols of power, and aquarium fish as representations of calmer and more relaxed emotions.
Steven Welti is a photographer based in Leesburg, Virginia. His work explores themes of movement, emotion, and documents nature. The overarching theme of his work is to comfort the viewer by expressing different forms of nature. He photographs elements of nature that connects him to landscapes and wildlife. This work relies on different species of fish and their natural form and movement. He is exploring the concept of comforting anxiety by using the elegant movement of aquarium fish as a conduit to focus viewers into a calm environment.
Andrea Siles’s work centers around underwater environments and creatures, while having an emphasis on movement and flow. Her work uses fluid line work, high contrasting shades, and a balance between expression and realism. Through the life size representations of sharks, her work emotes thoughts of power and confrontation. Her work symbolizes sharks as apex predators but also presents them as potentially helpless and fragile amongst murky plumes of color.
