Unveiling of new Shepherdstown Public Library design, fundraising kickoff party set
SHEPHERDSTOWN – Shepherdstown Public Library is hosting an Unveiling of its New Library Design and Fundraising Kickoff Party on Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 10 am to 3 pm at the existing library location 100 E. German St. in Shepherdstown. Project architects from Alexander Design Studio will be in attendance to showcase the latest building design and answer questions. An update on the progress of the new library project will also be provided. This event is open to the public.
What began as an effort to clean up the town dump to make way for a new library, designed to feature free community meeting space, an expanded children’s area for programming and activities, solar and living rooftops, significantly increased computer work stations, and plentiful, free parking, is about to materialize. Plans for the official groundbreaking will be announced at a later date.
To ensure the ultimate success of the new library project, a Building for the Future capital campaign committee was created to generate community support and acquire funding from local and national foundations, businesses, and individuals committed to the prospect of the library’s evolution. Every milestone of this project’s campaign to date must be attributed to the tireless efforts of these campaign committee members, each of whom spent countless hours cultivating prospects and acquiring donations thank you.
